  1. My dear, that is a mitered conure..and he is a she. Male heads are completely red. Females are like yours. Mine…"Kiwi" … lived to be 34 years old. I miss her very much. Conures are known for being contrary. . . Like a 2 year old child. Good luck.

  2. When my mom brought home her parrot a couple years ago, I wasn’t too happy about it. Now I love that bird and want one of my own. They can be turds but they are pretty cool and loving once you gain their trust.

  3. That's awesome. I know he has likely lost a few years off his life due to all the stress, but with this family, he has a chance at a great life. Just remember folks, before you decide to get a bird as a pet, the larger ones will likely outlast you and you need to consider who you will name as their care-taker when your gone, and be sure that the person gets to know the bird and spends time with them well before the time comes for the bird to move to their new home. Large birds, an some smaller ones, have a longer life expectancy than the average human.
